Marian Gaborik grabbed a couple of suits and dusted off a pair of shorts from the back of his closet in Columbus, Ohio, after being traded.

He was, after all, heading to Los Angeles.

On Sunday Gaborik played his second game with the Los Angeles Kings, acquired at the trade deadline from the Columbus Blue Jackets for Matt Frattin, a second round pick and a conditional third-round pick.

“It’s very exciting, I’m looking forward to this,” Gaborik said prior to facing the Edmonton Oilers. “I’ve been getting to know the guys for the last couple of days. You can tell this team has won before. The group on the ice and off the ice is unbelievable, it’s a lot of fun.”

Hampered by injuries this season, Gaborik, 32, had played just 22 games for the Blue Jackets. He had six goals and eight assists with Columbus, who are in a playoff hunt themselves.
