NASHVILLE - Thankfully for the Edmonton Oilers, they woke up first.

Facing the Nashville Predators on American Thanksgiving, the Oilers scored a pair of goals in the second period to take control of, what up to then, was a lacklustre affair on their way to a 3-0 win.

Ryan Nugent-Hopkins, Taylor Hall and Jordan Eberle, into an empty net, scored for the Oilers, while Ilya Bryzgalov made 33 saves in his first start with the club to pick up the 31st shutout of his career.

“It was a game that there were never any nerves, it was a game from start to finish, to a man, where everybody played well,” said Oilers head coach Dallas Eakins. “They stuck to what we were trying to do, they supported each other and it was kind of a textbook game from start to finish.”

The game got off to a slow start, as though both teams had turkey for their pre-game meal. It took four minutes for someone to register a shot and neither team had much jump.
