No stranger to making blockbuster trades, the Philadelphia Flyers could be gearing up for another one.

The underachieving club has inquired about the availability of Edmonton Oilers winger Jordan Eberle, according to CSN Philly.

The Flyers are desperate. After acquiring centre Vincent Lacavalier and defenceman Mark Streit in the off-season, the team sits a disappointing 15th in the Eastern Conference with a 4-10-1 record.

The Oilers aren’t doing too hot themselves as they’re last in the West at No. 14 and management could be looking to give the young team a big boost.

News of the potential trade talks comes after Flyers owner Ed Snider went off about Philly’s disappointing 3-0 loss to the New Jersey Devils on Thursday.

“I’ve been in the game for 47 years. I’ve never seen anything like this,” Snider told reporters. “We certainly know that we’re more talented than we’re showing on the ice. I think the question is, ‘How talented are we?’ ”

Perhaps not as much as they’d hoped.

“I’ve never seen a team that can’t score … with the talent that we have.”
