They weren’t expecting to run the table the rest of the season.

And while Thursday’s loss to the Vancouver Canucks was a setback for the Edmonton Oilers, they’re still in the thick of the playoff battle as the schedule winds down.

Saturday afternoon, the Oilers road trip continues, squaring off against the Los Angeles Kings. They’ll round things out Monday against the Anaheim Ducks.

“We’re going to lose games, you’re not going to win 17 in a row to finish the season,” said Oilers captain Shawn Horcoff. “We have to put that one behind us. We know we can play better and have another big challenge coming up.

“We’ll have to move on, forget about it, get some rest (Friday) and move on to the next game.”

Three games in four nights seem to take its toll on the Oilers in Vancouver. They knew heading into the contest the Canucks would be an ornery bunch, losing two straight and having been worked over in Edmonton on Saturday.
