ST. LOUIS - Dangerous at both ends, or not at all?

How do you like your Nail Yakupov?

He’s a pure goal scorer by trade, 80 in his last 107 games in Sarnia and 10 in 22 in the KHL, but he has just one in his last 23 games with the Oilers.

He started with a flurry, scoring five goals and adding three assists in his first 10 games out of the box with Sam Gagner and Ales Hemsky, including the tying goal in the final seconds against LA and the game winner in overtime against Phoenix.

But what seemed to spook the coaching staff was that for all of the offence generated by the 19-year-old phenom, he was minus six in those 10 games.

So they’ve dropped him to the third line, and sometimes even the fourth, with more defensively reliable linemates like Eric Belanger, and that’s pretty much the last we’ve seen of him.
