EDMONTON - An apple a day will keep the doctor away. But a loser point per game doesn’t work that way.

The Edmonton Oilers finished a four-game homestand last night with a 3-0 loss to the St. Louis Blues — a homestand in which they had to get at least six of the eight points available.

They ended up with four for four.

It’s too early to write the stick-a-fork-in-’em column or to declare them dead men skating, but if you look at the standings this morning where the Oilers are 11-12-7, it’s hard to convince yourself that they didn’t just lose their last hope game last night.
