Edmonton Oilers forward Ryan Jones shrugs off Jamie Benn crosscheck

It could have been worse.

It probably should have been worse.

When somebody 6-2 and 205 blindsides you with a crosscheck, a lot of things can go wrong.

Fortunately for Ryan Jones none of them did after Dallas forward Jamie Benn’s sneak attack in the final moments of Edmonton’s 5-1 victory Thursday.

“I got whip(lashed) a little bit,” shrugged Jones.

Benn was upset after Jones collided with Stars goalie Kari Lehtonen, which was actually a harmless bump that Jones immediately apologized for.

“I just got tangled up with the D going to the net one a two-on-one,” said Jones. “I tried to hold him up and asked if he was OK. He said he was fine. Everybody saw what happened, but apparently he was upset over it.”
