Ryan Jones admits he was a little nervous stepping out on the ice again.

The Edmonton Oilers winger made his season debut Saturday afternoon, returning from an eye injury suffered during the lockout.

Jones earned just over 14 minutes of ice time, a good portion of it killing the seven minor penalties the Oilers took in a 3-2 come-from-behind shootout win over the Phoenix Coyotes.

“I was nervous before that game for sure, that excited nervousness,” said Jones. “At the same time, I was telling myself to just play simple and not do anything to harm the team.

“As far as playing with my line went, I was just going to throw everything at the net. If didn’t see a pass that I could immediately make, I was going to throw it at the net and see if we can make something happen. There were a couple of chances that we had that almost ended up in the back of the net, a bounce here or a bounce there, then we would have had one.”
