EDMONTON - The Edmonton Oilers have dropped so many S-bombs in the last few years that even their most thick-skinned fans had to cover their ears.

Shoulder and Surgery have become dirty words in the snake-bitten club’s vocabulary, so watching yet another player, this time Ryan Nugent-Hopkins, wrestle with the same issues that plagued Shawn Horcoff, Ales Hemsky and Taylor Hall is enough to make anyone in Oil Country swear a blue streak.

Nugent-Hopkins doesn’t have a date with a surgeon, the Oilers are hoping localized exercise can make things right, but it’s still a scary situation when another one of their young thoroughbreds is hurting.

“It’s good,” said the 19-year-old centre, back on the ice Thursday after missing Wednesday’s game with Dallas to rest his sore wing.

“It was good to get back out there. We’re taking it day by day right now but I feel confident that I’ll be ready to go (Saturday in Detroit)."
