SAN JOSE, CALIF. - This is your captain speaking... I'm in the press box.

Shawn Horcoff needed a megaphone to communicate with his teammates Thursday in San Jose after being forced out of the lineup by a crushing hit from Coyote counterpart Shane Doan a day earlier in Phoenix.

Horcoff left the game after the third period hit on Wednesday and didn’t return. Sore necks seldom get better after you sleep on them and, sure enough, when he woke up in San Jose it had really tightened up. He’s listed as day to day and expects to be back for Saturday afternoon’s game in Denver.

“It’s just sore, super stiff, I’m having a tough time turning my neck,” he said at the team hotel. “They expect it’ll get better sooner rather than later. We just want to make sure that it calms down because we have a lot of games in just a few days.”
