EDMONTON - Ryan Nugent-Hopkins knows it’s just a matter of time.

But having a number of quality looks so far this season, it’s actually surprising the Edmonton Oilers centre has yet to score a goal.

Nugent-Hopkins heads into Wednesday’s encounter in Phoenix against the Coyotes goalless through the first five games of the season.

“I hope it comes soon,” said Nugent-Hopkins. “I think our line is getting a lot of chances and I’ve come really close.”

In reality, Nugent-Hopkins could have multiple goals already this year.

He started the season with a great chance to open the Oilers account, but just missed picking the top corner on Roberto Luongo in the opener in Vancouver.

He’s also had quality chances against the Sharks, Kings, Flames and Avalanche. Opportunities he normally buries.

“I think I just have to just relax and just play when I’m in those situations,” said Nugent-Hopkins. “I can’t over-think situations like that and just go with it.
