Sam Gagner forgotten youngster on Oilers

CALGARY - Already in his sixth NHL season, it's hard to believe Edmonton Oilers forward Sam Gagner is only 23.

Unless, of course, you skated alongside his old man.

Then, it's probably hard to believe he's already 23.

"Time sure flies," admitted Calgary Flames captain Jarome Iginla prior to Saturday's showdown with the Oilers at the Saddledome. "I remember that my first linemate was Dave Gagner, his dad, and I really enjoyed playing with him. I remember when Sam would come around. I think he might have been six years old or seven years old.

"It's pretty cool to play with Dave and get to know him and then see his son come up and be an NHLer and be doing well.

"So yeah, time flies. It's hard to believe it does go like that."

After benching Brad Richards should the New York Rangers eventually just buy him out?
  Yes.
  Might be a good idea.
  No.
  Not sure.
