Oilers beat Canucks in shootout

VANCOUVER - Hold off on the Miami Vice jackets, break dancing classes and foot-high hair - the 80s aren’t back yet.
Not the 80s Oilers, anyway.
But they scraped a little off the ghastly 2000s Sunday evening in Vancouver, coming back from 2-0 down on the road to beat a team that's owned them for years.
Ales Hemsky scored to tie it 2-2 with 5:55 left in the third period, then again in the shootout to win it as the Oilers took the first small step in trying to live up to the sum of their brilliant, blue chip parts.
They also learned a very valuable lesson: They can amass all the elite level kids they want, but the rest of the NHL is not going to bow down before them.
They'll have to work harder than they did before. And that's what they did on Sunday, gritting out and coming back when previous Oilers teams would have curled up and gone away.
