Jokinen happy to see Oilers Finn
By ROBERT TYCHKOWSKI, QMI Agency

CALGARY — From one Finn to another, welcome to the NHL, kid.

Olli Jokinen might be one of the few Calgary Flames who’s actually glad to see Teemu Hartikainen playing his way onto the Edmonton Oilers front burner.

“It’s good to see him doing well, there’s not too many Finnish guys around the NHL,” said the veteran Flame. “We need those new young Finns to come in and be impact players.”

And from what he’s seen of Hartikainen, the future looks pretty bright.

“He’s good. I saw him play in the World Juniors last year and he’s from the same home town. He impressed me a lot. He’s a strong kid, he protects the puck and he won most of this battles against us last time, which is a good sign for a young player. Usually that first year in North America the guys are a little bit weak and might need a few years.”
