EDMONTON - When you’re running down the list of coolest ways to spend your 19th birthday, playing the Rangers at Madison Square Garden has to be right up there.

Right up there with being selected first overall in an NHL draft.

“My birthday, playing in Madison Square Garden, it’s going to be pretty awesome,” said Edmonton rookie Taylor Hall, who’ll turn 19 when the Oilers visit Manhattan for their Nov. 14 matinee. “I’ve got some family coming in for that one so it should be fun.”

The Oilers, who get three days in New York City, have some pretty good stops coming up, birthdays or not in the next month. There’s another trip to Chicago and games in hockey meccas Montreal and Toronto ahead on the schedule.

“It’s exciting, you want to get out and show them around, let them enjoy it a little bit,” said captain Shawn Horcoff “You have to get away from the game sometimes, too, enjoy where you’re at, enjoy life in the NHL.”
