EDMONTON - If nothing else, the visits of Taylor Hall and Tyler Seguin to town in the last week have proved excellent material for Edmonton producer Don Metz for his latest documentary.

As the Oilers prepare to make their first No. 1 pick at the NHL entry draft in their history, TSN announced Thursday it will air an exclusive hour-long inside look at the the Oilers on the drastic rebuilding of the franchise with the telecast of “Oil Change” June 24 at 7 p.m.

Commissioned by TSN and produced by Metz and his highly acclaimed Aquila Productions, it is promoted as “featuring exclusive access, including never-before-seen footage of Oilers team president Kevin Lowe and general manager Steve Tambellini conferring on which young star ... will become the few face of the proud franchise.”

Metz said it very much will be of the same sort of documentary as he put together on the selection of the Olympic hockey teams, Gold Rush in 2002 and 2010.

“We’ve been going solid for the last six weeks. We were at the Memorial Cup, the Combine, behind the scenes at the Oilers’ scouting meetings at Predator Ridge in B.C. and with both of them on their visits here, including to Datyl Katz’s home,” he said.

“We’ll be shooting and editing right up to the 22nd and I’ll personally fly the master to Toronto on the morning of the 23rd.

“It’s kind of the Boys On The Bus come full circle.”
