WHY OILERS LOST

Despite this being their last home game before going on the road for five games -- where they have just one win -- the Oilers played with little emotion, no jump and created few scoring chances.

PLAY OF THE GAME

On the powerplay, Marian Gaborik fires a pass through the Oilers' defensive box which Ales Kotalik one-times past Nikolai Khabibulin.

SAVE OF THE GAME

Rangers goaltender Steve Valiquette shows off a quick glove, snagging Dustin Penner's wrist shot from the slot.

THREE STARS

AS CHOSEN BY SUN MEDIA

ALES KOTALIK, NYR

A goal and a pair of assists for the former Oiler in his first game back.

MARIAN GABORIK, NYR

Great pass to set up the Rangers' third goal. Then he scored the fourth.

MICHAEL DEL ZOTTO, NYR

Rookie defenceman is the real deal, setting up the Rangers' second goal.
