Penner climbing the chart

It didn't take Dustin Penner long to work his way up the depth chart. He finished Game 2 with Ales Hemsky and Shawn Horcoff, replacing J.F. Jacques.

"We did it, for one, because he was playing good and because the play was stalling early in the game with that line," said Quinn.

"It wasn't just Jacques, although when he had the puck, the play would start to die a little bit. I didn't think Horc had a strong game early on, he didn't seem confident with the puck. We weren't getting a lot out of that group."

Penner wasn't at practice yesterday, so there's no telling where he'll line up tonight.

Late hits ...

Quinn wants to give Nikolai Khabibulin a couple more starts to get his legs under him, so Jeff Deslauriers might have to wait till the Oilers go on the road ... Marc Pouliot, who was days away from his return, aggravated his injury (pubitis) and won't be ready as soon as they thought.
