The Edmonton Oilers are expecting to see the first overall pick in the NHL Draft tonight when they host the New York Islanders (7 p.m.) at Rexall Place. John Tavares, battling the flu, did not play in the Islanders' 2-1 victory over the Vancouver Canucks in Terrace, B.C., on Monday night.

The former Ontario Hockey League star has been rooming with veteran Doug Weight as the Islanders set up training camp in Saskatoon, Sask.

Tonight's meeting is the first of two preseason encounters between the two teams. They'll face each other again Sunday in Saskatoon, where the Oilers are expected to go up against former goaltender Dwayne Roloson.
