Pressure to boost same-ol' Oilers

EDMONTON -- After one quick look at the training camp roster, Edmonton Oilers fans are probably thinking the same thing team management is thinking -- let's hope like hell it really was Craig MacTavish's fault.

Because, aside from Mike Comrie replacing Ales Kotalik and 36-year-old Nikolai Khabibulin replacing 39-year-old Dwayne Roloson, this is pretty much the exact same team as the one he got fired from last season.

So they better hope it was MacTavish who handcuffed the skill players, MacTavish who broke Dustin Penner's spirit, MacTavish who couldn't get them to develop an identity or win at home and MacTavish who sank team chemistry. If not, this team is screwed, and its former coach will get the last laugh from the safety of a TSN studio.

"A lot of guys, given the way last year ended and the way a lot of their seasons went personally, were looking for a bit of a change," said centre Shawn Horcoff.

"Now that we have it, it's going to be up to us to make the most of it. I think (Pat Quinn) is going to be great for us."

"We had five months to sit and think about how long the summer was," said defenceman Sheldon Souray.

"Now guys are going to come in and be accountable with something to prove."
