Oilers still trying to make a trade

With time running out until the NHL trade deadline, the Edmonton Oilers still haven't made a move -- but they're trying.

Head coach Craig MacTavish, who gives management a Yay or Nay on whether he thinks a potential acquisition will fit in, has been taking calls from GM Steve Tambellini all morning.

He left practice to take one call and had to be pulled out of a post-practice media scrum to take another.

Upon returning to the scrum MacTavish said Tambellini is indeed trying to get something done.

The deadline is 1 pm Edmonton time, but deals have been known to trickle in an hour or so later because of the last-minute logjam of paper work.

"There's still time," said centre Shawn Horcoff. "You never know."
