Oilers fans have their say about 10-2 loss

ATTACK OF THE CLONES

It is always the players' fault. When will the media admit that MacT and the coaching staff share in the blame? If we have the players we need to win, then the coaches are not doing their job. The problem with MacT is that he keeps trying to make the players clones of himself instead of taking advantage of their strengths.

FANS ARE IN MORE PAIN

In response to Ethan Moreau's comments about the players feeling worse than the fans after a 10-2 home loss, how is that possible? For two tickets, parking, $7.75 beers and food, a fan would have shelled out a minimum of $150. On the other hand, a player with an NHL average $2-million dollar salary walked away with $24,390 for the game. While the fans did witness the historical worst home loss ever for the Oilers, I'm sure that money could have been better spent elsewhere in these tough economic times.

NO TOUGHNESS

All I can say is where is your toughness? The score is 8-2 and Buffalo has their number-one power-play unit to run up the score and nobody gets pissed about it. You should have started to hit somebody. Throw out a few glove washes - nothing crazy, but send a message. When Reddox is the only guy throwing out some hits, it's no wonder every other team is not afraid to do as they want against us.

IT'S JUST ONE LOSS

Big Friggin Deal ... They lost a hockey game. Get over it, people.

SYSTEM IS BROKEN

I think the system the Oilers have just doesn't fit the team. The system is built around a highly offensive team, but sadly, we don't have one. It's like the team still thinks they have Gretzky, Kurri, Messier etc. The Oilers need to rethink their game philosophy and system.

NEW OWNER, SAME RESULT

New owner, same results. Everyone thought with Daryl Katz buying the Edmonton Oilers we would see results. Instead we've seen the two worst blowouts ever, and within a month. Don't worry team. In true Oilers fashion, with a team run by Kevin Lowe there will be no trades, nothing but pay raises.

OFF THE MAC T BANDWAGON

I'm one of MacT's so-called "supporters" and even I want his head. Time to go, buddy.

GIVE MAC A DECENT CENTRE

I love MacT and he's done much for this organization, so he deserves the benefit of the doubt. Get him a world-class centre and give him one last chance. If he can't turn it around with that, then it's clearly time for a change.

CHANGE THE COACH

You can only go to the blame-the-players-well so many times. It's time to change the one constant over the last eight years, MacT. After the loss Tuesday night it sure seems this team has lost its heart and it's hard to single any one player out when the whole team doesn't seem to know how to play with any kind of consistency. Mr. Katz, you said you wanted to have a competitive team. On Tuesday I didn't even see a team that belonged in this league.Guess you're content to just make your money.

NEED A TRADE, PLEASE

Make a trade for a player of Vanek's status. I've watched six games and the Oilers are a superb road team but are the opposite at home.

rbird, via edmontonsun.com

SOMETHING NEEDS FIXING

The Edmonton Oilers have two ways to look at it. They have little cap space and are a .500 team. A change is needed. We cannot win the Stanley Cup with the team we have. I'm just sick of seeing the Oilers win three games then lose three, then win two and lose four. Or lose 9-2 and 10-2. Something's wrong and it needs fixing.

RINSE. REPEAT.

Enough already. We suck, so we trade players. The players we trade away play better, the players we get play worse. Rinse. Repeat. Get rid of MacT. Get a new system. Get a system the players buy into.

TIME TO MOVE ON

Games are won and games are lost. Get over it, everyone! If this happens over a five-to-six game period then get concerned, but for now move on and get ready for the Wild.

FRESH APPROACH NEEDED

As much as I like MacTavish, I think it's time to let him go and get a fresh approach to the team. After replacing him, make a couple trades and we are good to go.

Charlie, via edmontonsun.com

OLD BOYS CLUB IS TIRING

The old boys club needs to come to an end. MacTavish and Lowe need to go. We need some fresh, new energy injected into this team. And we need it NOW. We cannot wait any longer.

RELIEVE THEIR PAYCHEQUES

Overrated, non-contributors like "big" Dustin Penner (how sick am I of hearing that) need a retraining in the minors. Non-producers should be relieved of their idiotically high paycheques and replaced with hungry, try-hard-as-hell players.

THIS IS LOWE'S FAULT

The Oilers team is on Kevin Lowe - he put together this AHL-equivalent team and should be held accountable. Of course, maybe that's why he was "kicked upstairs" - so to speak - so he won't do any more damage. I wouldn't put it all on coaching - the coaching staff can only work with what they're given.

Jerry, via edmontonsun.com

LOSS GOOD FOR OILERS

This needed to happen. I hope this opens Katz's eyes and he realizes he has no choice but to let his entire coaching staff go.

Shaun, via edmontonsun.com

SAME OLD STANDING

I would like to say it's just a bad game, but I am concerned that the Oilers are always in the same situation - whether they have talent or not - same old eighth to 10th place.

Derek, via edmontonsun.com

BLAMING JASON ARE-NOT

It was kind of embarrassing to be an Oilers fan that night, but I don't think this can be blamed on one person. This team needs a shakeup. There is a rot deep in its core that goes back to the days of Jason ARE-NOT. Sometimes, they just don't try.

Henry, via edmontonsun.com

BETTER TALENT IN MINORS

Zack Stortini? Jason Strudwick? MacT? Who does Stortini protect? I don't care how poorly R. Schempf is playing in the AHL, he has way more talent than those two. Fine, don't call him up, but get Ryan Potulny in there. Kyle Brodziak needs someone to play hockey with. We keep playing these horrible players.

Shawn, via edmontonsun.com

(EDITOR'S NOTE: Potulny has since been called up.)

WE WANT TORTORELLA

Get rid of MacT and bring in Tortorella.
