Stop asking about Rob Schremp.
Craig MacTavish appears to have reached his single-season limit for Rob Schremp questions.
Not long after the Oilers recalled Ryan Potulny yesterday, the subject of Schremp came up at the morning media conference.
As in, why wasn't it Schremp?
Tired of having to pussy-foot around the topic every time they call someone up, MacTavish gave his most honest assessment yet in explaining why Schremp's been passed over twice in the last two weeks.
"I guess every time we call somebody up we have to defend why it isn't Robbie," he said.
"I think the bottom line is it's up to Robbie to be a decent player down there.
"We all know what he can do, he's got decent hands and he can work the power play OK, but he's slow and he's not a physical player, he's soft at this level.
"There are a lot of things he needs to address in his game to be the guy who gets called up."
Schremp was benched in the third period of Springfield's last game.
"It's getting to the point where you have to be honest," said MacTavish.
"He's not helping them (Springfield) particularly right now, and there's no reason to think he's going to come up here and help us given those circumstances."
