We could see Moreau of this

After watching Ethan Moreau post five points in the first six games of Edmonton's road trip, Craig MacTavish couldn't ignore the numbers any longer. So the third-line grinder was promoted to first line winger with Ales Hemsky and Sam Gagner last game in New York.

"It's about time," joked Moreau. "I haven't played with Gags much, but any time I've played with Hemmer, and I don't get a chance to very often, I like how he plays. I kind of know where to go. It'll be fun."

The coach isn't sure how long he'll keep them together, but he likes what he's seen so far.

"He's making lot of plays with the puck, the other thing he'll do is move in the offensive zone to get open and shoot it," said MacTavish, adding Moreau also brings grit and a defensive presence to the line. "It started out as a short-term thing and hopefully it'll develop into a long-term thing."

Other points of interest about the seven-gamer:

- Ales Hemsky had nine points in the seven games, not counting the game-winning goal in Monday's shootout.

"I feel good," he said of his current hot streak. "I don't think about it, I'm just trying to play my game, making plays and creating some chances. I don't think I ever scored five goals in a row. I'm just trying to keep it going."

- Sheldon Souray had seven points in seven games, while Sam Gagner, Robert Nilsson and Andrew Cogliano had one point each, the same as Jeff Drouin-Deslauriers.

- In goal, Dwayne Roloson went 2-1, allowing 10 goals on 98 shots. Mathieu Garon was 0-2, giving up eight goals on 45 shots and Drouin-Deslauriers was 2-0, stopping 94 of 97 shots, including three in Monday's shootout win over the Rangers.

- The power play scored in five of seven games and went five-for-28 on the trip.

- For all his giveaways and close calls, Lubomir Visnovsky was plus six on the trip, never finishing as a minus in any of the seven games.

- The trip was so long they played all three NHL Staal brothers - Marc in New York, Eric in Carolina and Jordan in Pittsburgh.
