Steve MacIntyre wore 25 all through training camp, but switched to 33 when he made the team. He's been a Marty McSorley fan all his life and wears the number as a tribute at every stop.

"I've been 33 all my life, so I thought I might as well keep going with it," said the six-foot-six, 265-pounder. "And, of course, because of Mr. McSorley. He was always a favourite of mine growing up. He always worked hard, played hard, played tough.

"I thought now that I've become an Oiler I might have an opportunity to meet him sometime."

MacIntyre did meet another legendary Oilers tough guy -Mr. Dave Semenko.

"That was pretty cool. I met him in Hartford when I was there. As soon as I saw him I went right over to him and said 'Hi I'm Steve MacIntyre, I watched you since I was little wee.' He says 'You're not little wee anymore.'

"He's a big man. I wouldn't want to mess with him. He's intense looking."

MacIntyre is itching to get in, and will likely get his chance in both games of Edmonton's road trip through Anaheim and Calgary.

"I'm biding my time; it'll come," he said. "I'm grateful for the opportunity. They went out on a limb acquiring me on waivers. I want to keep my nose to the grindstone and hopefully stick around, that's all I can do. I'm not really a talented guy, I'll just try to work as hard as I can and see what happens."
