Oilers unveil third jersey

The Edmonton Oilers today unveiled their new 3rd jersey.

The jersey is a replica of the Oilers' blue and orange sweaters the team wore when Kevin Lowe -- now Oilers president of hockey operations -- scored the first NHL Edmonton Oilers goal in Chicago, Oct. 10, 1979.

It will be worn 14 times this season, according to an Oilers release, including Sunday's home opener against Colorado and games against all of the original six teams when they visit Edmonton.

The team will also have special gloves, helmets, pants and socks to match the third jersey.
