ST. PAUL, Minn. -- For Tom Gilbert, it's not as nerve-wracking anymore.

Last night the Minneapolis native played his sixth game in his home state when the Oilers took on the Wild.

"It's a lot actually, considering I've only played about 50 (NHL) games," he said. "But it's always fun just coming home and seeing my family. It's better than them always trying to find a trip out to where I'm playing.

"I always get different friends coming to the game. It's always exciting to come play at home."

Last night Gilbert needed eight tickets to accommodate family and friends at the Xcel Energy Centre.

"It's starting to get in the habit where some people just expect tickets now," he smiled. "It's getting to the point where I'm going to have to start turning people down now before it's a couple of years later where they expect to get them.

"But it's been reasonably well. My family does a pretty good job of getting tickets before I come here."

On the road, players are responsible for purchasing the tickets they need.

However, the amount Gilbert has had to purchase when he comes home has remained constant.

"It's an awesome place to play. This rink is awesome," Gilbert said.

"Obviously I know what the fans are like being from Minnesota. It's exciting to play in front of an excited crowd and family."
