Fernando Pisani has a stall with his name on it reserved in the Oilers dressing room, but it doesn't look like he'll be using it any time soon.
Initial hopes that ulcerative colitus might only cost him a few weeks of the regular season appear optimistic. The Oilers are bracing themselves for a potential long-term loss.
"We're still hopeful Fernando will be back at some point," said friend and teammate Ethan Moreau. "Obviously it doesn't look great right now.
"We still have his stall, we're anticipating his return, if not this year then next year.
"It's an opportunity for young guys to fill that void, but it's a pretty big void. It's going to be difficult for somebody in our camp to fill his spot."
