Some players have trouble adjusting to the fishbowl environment that comes with playing for the Edmonton Oilers.

Don't expect it to be a problem for Sheldon Souray.

Asking a player who just came from the Montreal Canadiens if he can handle the pressure and scrutiny of Edmonton is like asking someone from Alaska if they can handle the cold here.

"It's something that I actually find as motivation," said the highest paid Oiler.

"We're hockey players, whether you play in a sunny climate or a place where they're expecting you to do a lot all the time.

"It's part of what keeps you motivated, part of the reason why I signed here."

He knows how Canada's passion for hockey can swing the pendulum both ways.

"In Montreal when you're winning, the valet parking is free, you get a nice table at the restaurant," he said.

"When you're losing, you park your own car, you wait in the line at the bar. Hey, you take the good with the bad.

"But when you have a good team that's giving all they have on the ice and when you're a solid person in the community, you have to think that the fishbowl is a good thing."
