Despite finally landing an AHL franchise, the Edmonton Oilers aren't letting go of their ECHL landing spot.

The club renewed its affiliation with the Stockton Thunder yesterday, signing a one-year extension.

"We're pleased to extend our agreement for another year with Stockton," said Oilers assistant general manager Scott Howson.

"The experience for our players from last season was positive and we look forward to developing more players in the upcoming season."

The Oilers farmed eight prospects out to Stockton last season, including Bryan Young, Devan Dubnyk, Brock Radunske and Tyler Spurgeon - a number that's sure to drop now that they have 23 roster spots available on the Springfield Falcons.

But the ECHL Thunder remains a good option for players who aren't quite ready for the AHL.
