Normally the rule of thumb is to wait four or five games until the adrenalin kick of being in the NHL goes down a bit before making any strong statements about an up-from-the-minors player.

But Oilers coach Craig MacTavish was giving Zack Stortini a rave review yesterday after Game 2.

"He's been really good,'' said the coach of the player brought up to give the Oilers a little toughness.

"He's got savvy and he's not a friendly guy to be around. I think he's going to be an integral part of the team in the not-so-distant future. His positioning has been really good.

"He knows the area of the ice he has to read. He's a smart kid. He's a smart hockey player.''
