The Edmonton Oilers are pulling a roster swap of defencemen for the next week or so.

The Oilers yesterday sent Jan Hejda to the Hamilton Bulldogs of the AHL and recalled Mathieu Roy.

Hejda, 28, has been a healthy scratch in six straight games and 10 of the Oilers last 13, so he's getting a ticket to Steeltown for some playing time and will be recalled before Christmas.

Roy, 23, meanwhile, meanwhile, arrives today for his first call-up of the season having scored 6-10-16 in 25 games with the Bulldogs.

"It's just to get him (Hejda) some playing time before Christmas," coach Craig MacTavish said.

"We're pretty happy with the way the defence has been playing right now and we've been pretty healthy."
