At the time of the injury, it appeared Jason Williams would be out for a while.

However, the Detroit Red Wings centre was back in the lineup last night 10 days after getting stretchered off the ice.

"I feel good, I'm happy to get back in," Williams said prior to last night's game against the Edmonton Oilers. "Everything has gone well and I'm ready to go."

Williams was hurt the last time the Red Wings faced the Oilers.

He was hit at the side of the net by Oilers forward Raffi Torres, and fell headfirst on the ice.

Williams suffered a cut on his forehead and a concussion on the play where he was knocked unconscious.

He had been out of the lineup since.

"I feel good, I haven't had a headache or anything like that," Williams said. "Even after the hit, I didn't have a headache.

"That was the main thing - making sure that everything was clear upstairs."

Williams was drilled by Torres as he was attempting a wraparound coming out from the side of the net.

He has not spoken to Torres since the hit, which was considered clean and was not penalized.

"I have no problems with the hit," Williams said. "That's going to happen once, twice, maybe three times in your career where you're going to get smoked.

"I didn't see Raffi coming at me. On that play, I probably could have done something different, but I was trying to score a goal."
