ANAHEIM -- Alexei Mikhnov got his first game action of the season against Phoenix Monday, but he'll come out of the lineup against Anaheim tonight in favour of J.F. Jacques, who'll play left wing on a line with Marty Reasoner and Brad Winchester.

"I'm anxious to get J.F. in a game," coach Craig MacTavish said.

"He's worked really hard. I'm sure he's really anxious to get into a game and we could use that energy. I think we are safe to say he's going to play."

Mikhnov, 24, didn't get much done in his debut against the Coyotes, logging just 4:21 in ice time.

That opened the door for Jacques, who played seven games with the Oilers last season.

"He's got great speed and he's a willing forechecker," MacTavish said of Jacques. "He's always going to get his checks in.

"My recollection of him is that he gets a lot more done in games than he does in practices."

While there aren't any roster moves afoot yet, MacTavish suggested Mikhnov could be ticketed to the minors at some point to get playing time.

But that's not a priority at this point.

"We've got to get him some playing time," MacTavish said.

"We'll see if the opportunity presents itself here.

"In the next little while. If it doesn't, we'll have to do something different with him."

Likewise, there's no plan in motion to call up another forward from the minors in the wake of Ethan Moreau being placed in injured reserve with a dislocated right shoulder.
