Stoll's stellar start

If they handed out a Rocket Richard trophy for the pre-season, Jarret Stoll would be in the running.

But they don't.

And he'll be the first one to tell you that goals in exhibition games don't mean anything.

Still, with four in three games, one off the league lead going into last night's game, the 24-year-old centre is wasting no time picking up where he left off last season

"It's pre-season," shrugged Stoll, who made it 2-0 last night on a shorthanded breakaway. "Regular season is a whole different game. But you want to get your confidence going."

He's got it. He made no mistake on the breakaway and had the big shot of his going all night.

"We just want to be sharp, get the legs going and make sure we keep getting better as the games go on.

"You have to be doing those little things because when it comes time for the regular season we have to be doing them," he added.

"Snap the puck around, get some shots, get some of the plays we're going to be using during the year. These are the games that you work on that kind of stuff."

ICE CHIPS: The Oilers signed defenceman Sebastien Bisaillon to a three-year, entry-level contract yesterday. They also trimmed their pre-season roster to 33, assigning netminder Jeff Drouin-Deslaurier to Wilkes-Barre, centre Jonas Almtorp to Brynas IFGavle (Sweden) and winger Fredrik Pettersson to Calgary (WHL).
