Seven say goodbye

Coach Craig MacTavish trimmed the Edmonton Oilers roster by seven players before last night's game with the Florida Panthers at Rexall Place.

Six roster hopefuls were assigned back to their respective juniors teams, while forward Patrick Murphy was assigned to the Thunder of the ECHL.

Riley Merkley was sent back to Calgary of the WHL, Brett Morrison was returned to Gatineau of the QMJHL, Theo Peckham was ticketed to Owen Sound of the OHL, Bryan Pitton was sent to Brampton of the OHL, David Shulz was returned to Saskatoon of the WHL and Trevor Solomon was sent to Sault Ste. Marie of the OHL.

The cuts reduce Edmonton's training camp roster to 46 players.
