Oilers season tickets go fast
By Edmonton Sun staff
For the Edmonton Oilers, six years of rebuilding and this spring's thrilling run to the Stanley Cup finals has translated into a veritable stampede for tickets.
With all 13,000 available season tickets now sold out, the Oilers yesterday announced they have increased the number of mini-packs they will offer this season.
Last season's mini-pack customers will get the first crack at the eight new packs. The club is in the process of communicating details to previous customers, and will commence the ticket sales on Sept. 1.
As well, for the first time ever, the Oilers will be instituting a lottery system to ensure mini-packs are made available through a process that is fair and convenient. Fans looking to purchase must register online at www.edmontonoilers.com by noon on Tuesday, Sept. 5.
A select number of fans will be randomly drawn and given the opportunity to purchase mini-packs.
"This is good and bad news for Oilers management," team president and CEO Patrick LaForge said yesterday.
"Of course, we are pleased by the unprecedented support of Oilers fans, as we forecast another season of sold out games at Rexall Place, but at the same time we wish we had enough space available for all our great fans throughout Oil Country."
