Craig MacTavish has re-upped for four more. But sssshhhh. It's not news until the Edmonton Oilers say it's news.

"We're not announcing it until the morning," was the official word out of the front office on the signing which, for some reason, will be announced at the airport at 9 a.m.

MacTavish, pictured left, has a record of 190-139-47-34 in six seasons as the Oilers' head coach. Only Glen Sather (464) has more wins.

He hadn't led the Oilers past the first round of the playoffs until he guided them to Game 7 of the Stanley Cup final this year.

His contract option wasn't picked up at the end of the season, but the Oilers are expected to announce today that he has signed a four-year contract extension.

MacTavish is also thought to be one of the leading candidates to coach Team Canada at the 2010 Winter Games in Vancouver.
