CHICAGO -- Chris Pronger has at least one milestone coming up when the Edmonton Oilers visit the St. Louis Blues at the Savvis Center tomorrow, and the big defenceman would like to make it two.

On a night St. Louis will honour Al MacInnis in a pre-game ceremony, Pronger will play his 800th NHL game against his former teammates and he'd like nothing more than to see the Oilers help secure themselves a playoff spot with a win over the Blues - making it 10 straight trips to the post-season for the rearguard.

"With all the ups and downs we've had, we've still put ourselves in this position to get in," Pronger said.

"We still control our own fate, and we don't believe it's just good enough to get in."

Pronger, 31, went to the playoffs in nine straight seasons with the Blues, a stretch of success in which he played 85 games, or the equivalent of an entire season.

Pronger missed the playoffs in his first two NHL seasons with the Hartford Whalers.

"When we're playing well, we're very tough to beat and we don't beat ourselves," Pronger said of the Oilers.

"As we get into crunch time here, the guys in this locker-room, we believe we have a chance to do something when we do get in."
