- - -

TURNING POINT:

Kristian Huselius' two goals early in the second period extended Calgary's lead to 3-0, which can't be overstated against an Oilers team capable of coming back.

- - -

BIG SAVE:

Seconds after Kristian Huselius put Calgary ahead 2-0, Edmonton's Michael Peca was sprung on a breakaway, only to be denied by a Miikka Kiprusoff glove save.

- - -

HARD HIT:

Certainly no shortage.

The most exciting came in the first period when Edmonton's Sergei Samsonov cut across the ice just inside the Calgary blueline.

That's when Bryan Marchment stepped up. Marchment caught only a piece of Samsonov and both went flying.

From the other side, Michael Peca laid out Daymond Langkow with a bone-crushing face-to-face, open-ice hit.

- - -

UNSUNG HERO:

Shean Donovan used his speed on the forecheck all night.

- - -

SCRATCHES:

CALGARY -- D Jordan Leopold (groin), C Jamie Lundmark (eye), RW Darren McCarty (groin/back), LW Marcus Nilson (knee), LW Mike Leclerc (wrist) and D Rhett Warrener (knee) are all out.

EDMONTON -- LW Todd Harvey is nursing a bit of a sore back. D Matt Greene, C Rem Murray, LW Brad Winchester, D Igor Ulanov were all healthy watchers.

- - -

BURNING QUESTION:

Wouldn't you love a playoff series between Edmonton and Calgary for the first time in 15 years?

- - -

WHAT IT MEANS:

Calgary is now four points clear of Colorado in the Northwest Division chase and getting to double digits ahead of ninth spot in the West, making a playoff position nearly a done deal.
