Rumours come.

Rumours go.

So far, tough guy Georges Laraque, often at the centre of speculation when trade winds blow, has survived all of them to remain a member of the Edmonton Oilers.

The latest rumour - and that's all it is - circulating around town is that the Oilers are talking to the Montreal Canadiens about goaltender Jose Theodore.

Laraque, as well as Ty Conklin and Robbie Schremp, have had their names attached to that one.

"Every year," said Laraque, who was a healthy scratch for Monday's 3-1 loss to Buffalo. "I don't even think about that."

Just a couple of days ago, Laraque heard talk that he and Marc-Andre Bergeron could be headed to the Pittsburgh Penguins for stopper Marc-Andre Fleury.

Then, came talk about Theodore.

Oilers assistant-GM Scott Howson yesterday dismissed the Theodore rumour.

He said no talks with the Canadiens have taken place.
