PHILLIPE SAUVE: Huge save on Robbie Schremp kept game scoreless late in a very good first period.

BRENT KRAHN: Picked up right where Sauve left off to keep the Oil off the board until the 12-minute mark of the final frame during a powerplay.

DION PHANEUF: A pair of first-period giveaways could be a sign of nerves. Settled down . Sent Raffi Torres sprawling with a big check.

STEVE MONTADOR: Knocked Georges Laraque off the puck. Nothing flashy but solid all around.

BYRON RITCHIE: Used his speed to be sprung on a partial breakaway and a two-on-one.

MATTHEW LOMBARDI: Goal in first game back on NHL ice since suffering that horrific concussion will be a huge boost of confidence.

LYNN LOHNS: Solid job on the penalty kill.

ANDREW FERENCE: Good play to knock down a clearing attempt and weave to the net for the team's first scoring chance.

ERIC NYSTROM: Showed moxie driving the net. Steady pro debut for the first-round draft choice.

JASON WIEMER: Wiemer didn't play much, especially in the third period and five-minute overtime.

DARREN McCARTY: Provided the screen for Lombardi's goal. Not a breathtaking performance but a good start for vet.

ROBYN REGEHR: Stole the puck from Chris Pronger and then bulled way to the net forcing the Oilers to take a penalty.

CRAIG MacDONALD:Took a hooking penalty 43 seconds into the game and was the meat in an Oilers sandwich along the boards midway through the final period.

CAM SEVERSON: Goaltender interference penalty nullified team's best first-period scoring chance.

ZENITH KOMARNISKI: Didn't make many mistakes in his own end.

BRANDON PRUST: He showed no fear going after Chris Pronger behind the Oilers net early in the third period.

RICHIE REGEHR: Didn't look out of place early. Was replaced by Steve Montador during some shorthanded situations.

JUSTIN TAYLOR: Couldn't catch up to the play on the penalty kill. Hooking penalty on next shift.

CARSEN GERMYN: Cleared the puck out of the zone at a key moment in the third.

TOM MAKI: Was outmatched by Edmonton's defence most of the night.
