Coach Craig MacTavish has made his first round of cuts at training camp, trimming nine players from the Edmonton Oilers roster.

Left wingers Vyacheslav Trukhno and Stephane Goulet were sent back to their junior teams after Wednesday's Joey Moss Cup, although the cuts weren't announced. Seven other players packed their bags yesterday.

Frederik Pettersson is on his way to Red Deer of the WHL, Roman Tesliuk has been sent to the Kamloops Blazers, Colton Yellow Horn is returning to the Lethbridge Hurricanes, Liam Reddox and Bryan Young got tickets back to Peterborough of the OHL, Mike Duco goes back to Kitchener and Tim Sestito has been sent to the AHL's Hamilton Bulldogs.

The cuts leave the Oilers with 47 players going into tonight's game against the Calgary Flames. The next significant cut will be made after Wednesday's game against Vancouver, when MacTavish intends to trim his roster to 40.
