In Florida, Dale Tallon’s criteria for dealing the No. 1 pick in Friday’s draft means the Maple Leafs, Flames, Canucks and Oilers all seemingly still have a shot, providing they can cobble together an offer the Panthers general manager can’t refuse.

In Montreal, veteran defenceman Andrei Markov could not refuse the multi-year offer tabled by Habs GM Marc Bergevin.

In Vancouver, Willie Desjardins, not long after leading the Texas Stars to the American Hockey League crown, could not refuse the opportunity to coach the Canucks.

In Columbus, Blue Jackets management could not refuse the chance to add the leadership of veteran Scott Hartnell to a young playoff team.

And in Chicago, it appears the Blackhawks refuse to consider their long-term future without Patrick Kane and Jonathan Toews in the lineup.
