Lidstrom, Howard returning to Wings
By QMI Agency

The injury-riddled Detroit Red Wings hope to get a few players back Saturday when they are home to the Carolina Hurricanes.

Goalie Jimmy Howard (sore groin) and defencemen Nicklas Lidstrom (ankle bruise) and Jakub Kindl (oblique strain) are all close to returning.

An MRI showed that Howard did not suffer a tear in a game last Monday. Captain Lidstrom has been out since Feb. 28 and Kindl since March 6.

Defenceman Jonathan Ericsson, sidelined since Feb. 28 because of a wrist injury, could be back next week but there is no timetable for forward Johan Franzen's return. He has missed three games with back spasms.

Other injured Wings include centre Darren Helm (left knee) and goalie Joey MacDonald (back).

After benching Brad Richards should the New York Rangers eventually just buy him out?
  Yes.
  Might be a good idea.
  No.
  Not sure.
