The Detroit Red Wings have placed veteran goaltender Chris Osgood back on injured reserve because of lingering problems from his sports hernia surgery.
Osgood had the surgery on January 11 and was brought off IR last week, but is still experiencing groin soreness.
The 38-year-old compiled a 5-3-2 record with a 2.77 goals-against average and .903 save percentage prior to the injury.
Osgood became the 10th goalie in NHL history to record 400 wins on December 27 at Colorado.
In a corresponding move, the Red Wings recalled netminder Joey MacDonald from Grand Rapids of the American Hockey League.
