Detroit - Detroit Red Wings goaltender Chris Osgood underwent successful groin surgery.

The Free Press reported on Tuesday that the 38-year-old's procedure to repair a sports hernia, performed in Philadelphia, was successful.

Osgood missed 13 games earlier this season because of the same injury and hasn't played since January 4 against Edmonton.

The three-time Stanley Cup winner compiled a 5-3-2 record with a 2.77 goals- against average and .903 save percentage. He notched his 400th career win against the Avalanche on December 27.
