Denver - Detroit Red Wings forward Dan Cleary will miss at least a month after suffering a fractured left ankle during Sunday's win at Minnesota.
Cleary, who won't need surgery, sustained the injury when he was struck by a puck fired by teammate Brad Stuart. Cleary had notched his team-leading 16th goal of the season just under nine minutes into the 4-1 victory over the Wild.
The injury comes less than a week after Detroit lost Pavel Datsyuk to a broken hand. Datsyuk is tied for the club lead with 27 assists through 33 games, but the forward's injury is expected to sideline him for a month as well.
The Wings recalled forward Jan Mursak from Grand Rapids of the American Hockey League to fill the roster spot. Once he takes a step on the ice, the 22-year- old will become the second native of Slovenia to play in the NHL, after Los Angeles Kings forward Anze Kopitar.
