Detroit - The Detroit Red Wings announced on Wednesday that goaltender Chris Osgood will return to the lineup after missing the past 13 games with a groin injury.

To make room for Osgood, the team returned goaltender Joey MacDonald to Grand Rapids of the American Hockey League.

Over four games prior to the injury, the 38-year-old Osgood was 2-2 with a 2.76 goals against average. He hasn't played since an October 30 win over Nashville and is currently two wins away from becoming the 10th goaltender in NHL history to reach the 400-win mark.

MacDonald, who was recalled on October 28, made just one appearance in his stint, stopping seven of the eight shots he faced in a relief appearance against Atlanta on November 24.
