Wings bring back Bertuzzi
By STEVE MACFARLANE, SUN MEDIA

All Todd Bertuzzi needs to do to join the Stanley Cup runner-up is pass a physical.

The 34-year-old who played last season with the Calgary Flames has signed a one-year deal with the Detroit Red Wings worth a reported $1.5-million pending an examination.

Knee surgery sidelined the 6-foot-3, 231-pounder for nearly a month late in the regular-season, but he returned to the Flames lineup for the last 15 games of the year -- including six playoff contests against the Chicago Blackhawks.

With seven goals and 14 points in his first 17 games in the Flaming C, Bertuzzi won over many of the fans skeptical of his signing last summer.

But his lack of defensive awareness and goal-scoring struggles for long stretches after his hot start led to the team's decision to let him test the free-agent waters.

Do you think the NHL will ever return to Quebec City?
  Yes, no matter what
  Yes, with a new rink
  No, market too small
  No, not a priority
